My ceramic wall sculptures explore the patterns and structures that connect all living things. I am fascinated by how many small parts can form a unified whole, reflecting the interconnectedness of life.

My ceramic Nature Nests are interactive sculptures that invite people to become participants in the artwork. Each piece is designed with small openings and cubbies that encourage viewers to collect and place their own treasures from nature—a feather, seed pod, stone, shell, leaf, or other small discovery. By gathering, observing, and displaying these objects, I hope people slow down, look more closely, and deepen their sense of wonder about the natural world.

The sculptures are complete as standalone forms, yet they come alive in new ways as each person fills them with their own unique collections. Every Nature Nest becomes a personal reflection of place, memory, and curiosity.

At the heart of my work is a desire to reconnect people with the natural world. I hope these sculptures encourage exploration, quiet observation, and time spent outdoors. Research continues to show that spending time in nature benefits both our physical and mental well-being. More importantly, I hope people begin to see themselves as part of nature—not separate from it. Through wonder comes gratitude, and through gratitude grows a desire to care for and protect the rich diversity of life that surrounds us. If my work inspires someone to take a walk, notice something beautiful, or feel more connected to the living world, then it has fulfilled its purpose.

This series was inspired by the moths and butterflies I see in the native prairie I planted in my own yard. As I began learning about the importance of native plants, I discovered how essential they are for attracting beneficial insects and creating habitat that supports a wide diversity of life—including the birds that rely on insects for food.

In recent decades, insect populations have declined dramatically due to habitat loss and pesticide use. Through these sculptures, I hope to bring attention to their beauty and importance and inspire others to plant native species and reduce pesticide use in their own gardens.
